W6XM/R in the 2020 ARRL September VHF QSO Party

This rove was more of a "get outta the house" trip with the boy than a serious swing at a contest. We stopped to enjoy the quiet desolation of the Anza-Borrego, laid in the grass at Christmas Circle, I snuck in some operating techniques, but mostly had some good father/son talks.

I bolted-up a revceiver to the minivan, got a flagpole holder, and put a 6M loop at the top of 10 feet of top-rail. We used the venerable Yaesu FT-857d and ran a 'Six-Only' rove. Our two contacts were from a parking lot just a mile from the house. I drove us out to the Salton Sea because it is in a new grid and he has never seen it. We pulled over a few times to listen and call, but no bites.
